A Great Big World is an American indie pop duo composed of singer-songwriters Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino. They are best known for their hit single “Say Something” in 2013, which gained international success after Christina Aguilera joined them for a special duet version.
Early Years
Axel and Vaccarino first met at NYU in 2006 and quickly became best friends. After collaborating on several projects, they decided to form A Great Big World in 2012. They released their first EP in 2012 titled ""This Is The New Year"". The EP featured 6 tracks, including the title track which was featured in an episode of Glee.
Rise to Fame
In 2013, the duo released their debut studio album ""Is There Anybody Out There?"", which included the hit single “Say Something”. The song quickly became a hit and was eventually remixed with guest vocals from Christina Aguilera. The remix of “Say Something” reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the duo a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Recent Projects
A Great Big World released their second studio album ""When The Morning Comes"" in November 2015. The album featured several singles including ""Hold Each Other"" and ""Oasis"". In 2019 they teamed up with rapper Futuristic on the track ""Hold My Hand"", as well as Elle King on the song ""Wonderful"". The duo has continued to perform live shows throughout the US, including a performance at the White House in 2014.
