Introduction

Alci Acosta is an Argentinian singer-songwriter known for his '70s and '80s hits. He was born as Emilio Acosta in 1937 in Salta, Argentina. He is considered one of the most influential musicians of Argentina's folk music scene.

Early Life

Acosta began his musical career in the 1960s as part of a group called Los Fronterizos. He quickly rose to fame and released his first solo album in 1968. The album was a success and he became a household name in Argentina.

Career

Acosta has released over 20 albums over the course of his career. His music is heavily influenced by folk music of Argentina and Latin America. Some of his most famous songs include “La Racha”, “El Camionero”, “Mi Novia”, “La Caperucita Roja” and “Tirando Piedras al Río”. He has collaborated with numerous other artists such as Jorge Sobral, Víctor Heredia, Raúl Carnota and Beatriz Sarlo. In addition to his musical career, Acosta has also acted in various films and TV shows.

Awards & Achievements

Acosta has been honored with numerous awards throughout his career including the Konex Award for Best Singer-Songwriter of the Decade (1980–1989) in 1995 and the Orden de Mayo in 2010. He was also inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017.

Personal Life

Acosta is married to María del Carmen González since 1962. They have two children together: Emilio (born 1963) and María (born 1965). Acosta is currently 83 years old and still actively performing.
