Alizée is a French pop artist from Ajaccio, Corsica, who rose to fame with her hit single “Moi... Lolita” in 2000. Born on August 21st in 1984, Alizée’s parents were both musicians. Her mother was a singer and her father was a keyboardist, and they encouraged their daughter’s singing talent from an early age.
Career Beginnings
At the age of 13, Alizée was discovered by Mylène Farmer, a well known French pop singer, who helped launch her career. In 2000, Alizée released her debut album Gourmandises which included the hit single “Moi... Lolita”. The song became an instant success and gained Alizée international recognition.
Success and Later Career
The success of “Moi... Lolita” was followed by the release of two more albums in 2001 and 2003. Alizée also released several singles throughout her career such as “J'en Ai Marre!”, “L'Alizé”, “Mademoizelle Juliette” and “Les Collines (Never Leave You)”.
