Amly and the Sniffers are an Australian punk rock band from Melbourne. The band consists of Amy Taylor (vocals), Dec Martens (guitar), Bryce Wilson (bass), and Gus Romer (drums). They have become a globally recognized name in punk music due to their unique sound and energetic live shows.
The Band's Origins
Amyl and the Sniffers formed in 2017 after Amy Taylor responded to an advertisement posted by Dec Martens seeking to form a punk rock band. After playing local shows in Melbourne, they released their debut self-titled EP in February 2018. The EP had a huge impact on the punk scene, propelling the band to international fame.
Signing with Rough Trade
In April 2018, Amyl and the Sniffers signed with Rough Trade Records, becoming the second Australian band after Courtney Barnett to sign with the record label. Shortly after signing with Rough Trade, they released their first full-length studio album, titled “Amyl and The Sniffers”. The album featured 11 tracks including fan favorites such as “Gacked On Anger” and “Some Mutts (Can’t Be Muzzled)”.
International Touring
In 2019, Amyl and the Sniffers embarked on an international tour that saw them perform in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. During this tour they supported acts such as King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Dune Rats. In October 2019 they released their second studio album “All My Friends Are Drunk” which received critical acclaim.
Recent Activity
In 2020 Amyl and the Sniffers released a collaborative EP with Courtney Barnett titled “The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas”. The EP featured five tracks including “Everybody Here Hates You” and “Walkin’ On Eggshells”. They also released a live album titled “Live at The Croxton” which was recorded during their 2019 tour of Australia. Amyl and the Sniffers continue to tour internationally whenever possible.
