The Beginnings of Art Popular
Art Popular was founded in 2000 by Nelson de Sá and Egídio Passos. Both members had previously been part of another group called Grupo Raça, which disbanded shortly after its inception. In 2002, they released their first album, Caminhando Com Fé. It was an instant success and quickly became a staple of Brazilian radio stations. In 2005, Lúcio Maia joined the band as a guitarist and has been with them ever since.
