Alice Merton is a German singer-songwriter who has achieved international success with her hit single 'No Roots'. Born Anna-Lena Brüggemann in Frankfurt am Main in 1993, she was raised in Canada, the UK, and Germany, an experience that informed her global perspectives and multicultural sound. After returning to Germany in 2013, Merton began writing and recording music, releasing her first single 'Mint' in 2016. The song was soon followed by the single 'No Roots', which reached number one on the charts in Austria, Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland.
