Bengü: A Short Biography

Bengü (real name Gülben Ergen) is a Turkish pop singer, songwriter and actress. Born in 1973 in Istanbul, she rose to fame in the 1990s with her debut album 'Gülben Ergen'. She is one of the most successful female singers in Turkey and has released over 10 studio albums.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Gülben Ergen began singing at an early age and was a student of the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory. After earning a degree in Psychology from Istanbul University, she started her musical career. In 1996, she released her first album, 'Gülben Ergen', which was a great success. This album included the hit songs 'Yalnızlık Çiçeği' and 'Aşktır Bizim'. In 1999, she released two more albums 'Nefes Nefese' and 'Koparılan Dallar' which were both well-received.

Mainstream Success

Bengü has released ten studio albums over the course of her career, with her latest being 'Dansöz' in 2011. Throughout her career she has collaborated with many other Turkish artists such as Mustafa Sandal, Emre Aydın and Koray Avcı. She also collaborated with Atiye on the single 'Çok Ağladım'. In addition to her music career, she has also acted in several films and television series.

Personal Life

Bengü married singer/songwriter Emre Aydın in 2007 and they have two children together. In 2010 she received an honorary award from Istanbul University for her contributions to the music industry. Today she continues to perform live and release new music while appearing in various television shows.
