Who is Big Sean? Big Sean is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He rose to fame after being discovered by fellow Detroit rapper Kanye West. His debut album 'Finally Famous' was released in 2011, which sold 140,000 copies in its first week. Since then, he has released numerous studio albums and collaborated with many A-list artists such as Drake, Eminem, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, and Chris Brown. He has also been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for his single 'Bounce Back'. Early Life and Career Big Sean was born Sean Michael Leonard Anderson on March 25th 1988 in Santa Monica, California. His parents split up when he was three and he was raised by his mother and grandmother in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 14, he joined the group 'Da Ruckus' with his friends but eventually left due to artistic differences. In 2005, Big Sean launched his rap career after meeting Kanye West at a radio station in Detroit. West took him under his wing and signed him to his record label 'G.O.O.D Music'. Breakthrough Success In 2007 Big Sean released his first official mixtape 'Finally Famous: The Mixtape'. The success of the mixtape resulted in him signing with Def Jam Recordings. In 2011, he released his debut studio album 'Finally Famous', which peaked at number three on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album was supported by five singles including 'My Last' featuring Chris Brown and 'Marvin & Chardonnay' featuring Roscoe Dash and Kanye West. In 2012 he released his second album 'Hall of Fame', which featured the hit single 'Bounce Back'. The single was certified 3x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Recent Projects In 2015 Big Sean released his third studio album 'Dark Sky Paradise', which featured guest appearances from Drake and Kanye West. The album peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA. In 2017 Big Sean released his fourth studio album 'I Decided', which featured the hit single 'Moves'. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and was supported by three singles including 'Jump Out the Window' and 'Sacrifices' featuring Migos member Offset. In 2020 he released his fifth studio album 'Detroit 2', which features collaborations with fellow rappers Travis Scott, Ty Dolla Sign, and Post Malone.
