Who is Blondie? Blondie is an American rock band founded by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. Formed in 1974 in New York City, United States, the group initially consisted of Debbie Harry (vocals), Chris Stein (guitar), Clem Burke (drums), Jimmy Destri (keyboards) and Gary Valentine (bass). Blondie quickly became a new wave sensation, achieving commercial success with their hit singles such as "Heart of Glass", "Rapture" and "Call Me".Early Years Blondie was formed in 1974 when Debbie Harry and Chris Stein met at the legendary punk venue CBGB's in New York City. They were soon joined by drummer Clem Burke and bassist Gary Valentine. Blondie released their debut album, "Blondie", in 1976, which spawned their first major hit single, "X-Offender". The band followed up with their second album, "Plastic Letters", in 1977, which produced the hits "Denis" and "Rip Her to Shreds". In 1978, Blondie released their third album, "Parallel Lines", which became their breakthrough album. It spawned the hits "Heart of Glass", "One Way or Another" and "Sunday Girl".Breakthrough Success In 1979, Blondie released their fourth album, "Eat to the Beat", which featured the hits "Dreaming" and "Atomic". The band then released their fifth album, "Autoamerican", in 1980 which featured the hit singles "The Tide Is High" and "Rapture". Blondie's sixth album, "The Hunter", was released in 1982 and featured the hit single "Island of Lost Souls". The band's seventh album, "No Exit", was released in 1999 and featured the hit single "Maria".Collaborations Throughout their career, Blondie have collaborated with numerous artists, including Giorgio Moroder, Frank Infante and Nile Rodgers. They also collaborated with Jimmy Destri on the tracks "Atomic" and "Dreaming".Legacy Blondie are one of the most influential bands of all time.
