Who is Boef?

Boef (born Soufiane El Banouki) is a 29-year-old Dutch rapper, singer and songwriter. He rose to prominence in 2017 with his debut album “Slaaptekort” which featured major hits like “Habiba” and “Drank & Drugs”. His unique sound combines elements of trap, hip hop and R&B. Boef is one of the most promising artists of the new generation of Dutch rappers.

Early Career

Originally from Amsterdam, Boef was born in 1990 to Moroccan parents. He started rapping when he was only 15 years old and began making a name for himself in the Dutch rap scene. His early mixtapes “Voor Een Nacht Alleen” (2010) and “Voor Jou Alleen” (2011) quickly gained him a dedicated fanbase.

Rise to Fame

In 2017, Boef released his debut album “Slaaptekort” which went on to become one of the most successful albums of that year in the Netherlands. The lead single “Habiba” quickly became a major hit with its infectious hook. Other singles like “Drank & Drugs” and “Nonstop” further cemented Boef's place in the Dutch rap scene.

Collaborations

Boef has worked with several prominent artists in the Dutch rap scene such as SBMG, Frenna and Lil' Kleine.
