Who is Bryan Adams? Bryan Adams is a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist who has had a prolific career in the music industry for over 40 years. During that time, he has released 13 studio albums, sold over 65 million records, and had numerous Top 10 singles, including ‘Summer of ‘69’, ‘Run to You’, ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It For You’, and ‘Heaven’. He has also collaborated with other musical acts, such as Rod Stewart and P!nk. In addition to his musical success, Adams has won several awards, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song in 1992 for the song ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It For You’. He has also been inducted into both the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and Hollywood Walk of Fame.Early Life Bryan Guy Adams was born on November 5th, 1959 in Kingston, Ontario. He was raised by his parents, Conrad and Elizabeth Adams, alongside his two siblings. His father was an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces and his mother was a school teacher. From a young age, Bryan developed an interest in music and began playing the guitar at age 13. His first gig was at his high school talent show where he performed the song ‘Gimme Some Lovin’ by the Spencer Davis Group.Career Beginnings In 1978, at the age of 18, Bryan moved to London, England to pursue a career in music. It was there that he formed a band called Sweeney Todd with guitarist Jim Vallance. The band released two albums before disbanding in 1981. In 1980 Bryan released his self-titled solo debut album which included his first single ‘Hidin’ from Love’. While the album was not commercially successful it did receive some critical acclaim. Following his debut album he released Cuts Like A Knife in 1983 which spawned several hit singles such as ‘Straight From The Heart’ and ‘Cuts Like A Knife’. This album launched Bryan into international stardom and established him as one of the premier singer-songwriters of the 1980s.Successful Career In 1984, Bryan released his third album Reckless which included some of his most well-known songs such as ‘Run To You’ and ‘Summer Of ‘69’. The album was an instant success and propelled Bryan to even greater heights of fame. He followed this success with several more successful albums in the late 80s/early 90s such as Into The Fire (1987), Waking Up The Neighbours (1991), 18 Til I Die (1996), On A Day Like Today (1998), and Room Service (2004). In addition to his solo work he has also collaborated with other artists such as Rod Stewart and P!nk.Awards & Legacy Throughout his career Bryan has won numerous awards including a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance in 1992 for his single ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It For You’ from the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. He has also been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the same song. In addition to his many awards he has also been inducted into both the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and Hollywood Walk of Fame.
