Introduction Chayanne is a Puerto Rican singer and actor who has won numerous awards and achieved worldwide recognition for his successful career in Latin music and films. His real name is Elmer Figueroa de Arce, and he was born on June 28, 1968 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Chayanne has been active in the entertainment industry since the late 1980s. Over the years, he has released more than a dozen studio albums and starred in several films.Early Life Chayanne was born to a large family of five siblings in San Juan. His mother was a schoolteacher and his father owned his own business. At the age of nine, he found his love for music when he joined the chorus of his local church. He sang with them for several years before joining the boy band Los Chicos in 1984.
