Who is Dappy?

Dappy is a British rapper, singer-songwriter, and former member of the group N-Dubz. Born Costadinos Contostavlos in June 1987, Dappy is best known for his collaborations with fellow N-Dubz members Tulisa Contostavlos and Fazer. In 2010, he released his debut solo single “No Regrets” which peaked at number 1 on the UK Singles Chart. He went on to release two more successful albums in 2011 and 2012.

Early Career

Dappy's career began when he was a teenager. He formed the band N-Dubz with his cousin Tulisa Contostavlos and their friend Fazer. The band enjoyed success throughout the early 2000s, releasing several popular songs and albums. In 2008, they won a MOBO Award for Best UK Act.

Solo Career

In 2010, Dappy embarked on a solo career and released his debut single “No Regrets” which became a huge hit in the UK. It peaked at number 1 in the UK Singles Chart and was certified Platinum by the BPI. His second single “Rockstar” also peaked at number 1 in the UK Singles Chart. He released his debut album “Bad Intentions” in 2011, followed by “No Regrets” in 2012. Both albums were certified Gold by the BPI.

Collaborations

Throughout his career, Dappy has collaborated with numerous artists including Brian May, Rita Ora, and Tinchy Stryder. In 2012, he featured on Queen guitarist Brian May's single “Say It's Not True” which was released to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS. He has also featured on Tinchy Strider's single “Spaceship” and Rita Ora's single “Lucky”.

Legacy

Dappy has had an impressive music career so far and has achieved numerous accolades including two MOBO Awards and two BRIT Awards nominations. He has sold over 3 million records worldwide and is considered one of the most successful hip hop artists in Britain.
