Career Beginnings
Die Ärzte's career began in 1982 when the three members decided to form a punk rock band. Their first single, “Wir wollen nur deine Seele” (We only want your soul), was released in 1983 and was followed by their debut album Debil in 1984. The album was a success and spawned several hit singles such as “Geschwisterliebe” (Sibling Love) and “Ist das Alles?” (Is that all?).
Commercial Success
Die Ärzte achieved mainstream success with their third album Ab 18 (By Age 18) in 1986. The album featured the hit singles “Schrei nach Liebe” (Cry for Love) and “Männer sind Schweine” (Men Are Pigs). The album was certified gold for selling over 500,000 copies in Germany. The band continued to release successful albums throughout the 1990s, with albums such as Planet Punk (1996), Le Frisur (1999), and Runter mit den Spendierhosen, Unsichtbarer! (2002).
