He was born as Alban Uzoma Nwapa in 1957 in Oguta, Nigeria. He adopted the stage name “Dr. Alban” from the character “Dr. Alan Grant” in the movie Jurassic Park.
Early Life
Dr. Alban moved to Sweden at age 23 to pursue a medical degree at the University of Lund. After a while, he became more interested in music than medicine and started recording music in his spare time.
Career
Dr. Alban released his debut single “Hello Afrika” in 1990. The song was highly successful and gained him recognition in Europe, especially in Germany. He followed it with an album titled Hello Afrika which contained songs like “No Coke” and “It’s My Life” which were also huge hits.
