About Eason Chan

Eason Chan is a 45 year old Hong Kong singer, songwriter and actor. He is one of the most popular male singers in Asia and has been active in the industry since 1995. He is known for his broad vocal range and his ability to bring together many genres of music including pop, rock, R&B and Chinese traditional music. He has released over 20 studio albums over the course of his career.

Career

In 1995, Eason Chan released his first album 'To Hear Your Voice', which contained mostly cover songs. His second album 'Love Is A Miracle' was released in 1997 and featured original songs written by him. It was met with much acclaim and won him several awards including the prestigious 'Most Popular Male Singer' award at the Jade Solid Gold Awards ceremony. He went on to release many albums after this, ranging from Mandarin Pop to Cantopop to Jazz Fusion.

Awards

Eason Chan has won numerous awards throughout his career. In 2003 he won the 'Best Male Singer' award at the Metro Radio Music Awards ceremony. In 2006 he was awarded the 'Best Mandarin Male Singer' award at the Asia Pacific Golden Melody Awards ceremony. In 2008 he won the 'Most Popular Male Singer' award at the Jade Solid Gold Awards ceremony. He has also been nominated for numerous other awards such as the Golden Melody Awards, Global Chinese Music Awards and Metro Radio Music Awards.

Controversies

In 2009 Eason Chan was involved in a controversy when he openly criticized certain aspects of Taiwanese culture during a performance in Taiwan. This led to a boycott of his music as well as criticism from certain groups in Taiwan. However, he later apologized for his comments and the controversy eventually subsided.
