Early Life

Elena Yuryevna Temnikova was born on April 21, 1993 in Moscow, Russia. Her father is an artist and her mother is an accountant. She started singing at the age of five, and by the age of ten she had already participated in various children's music festivals in Moscow. At the age of sixteen, she enrolled in the Gnessin School of Music.

Career Beginnings

In 2003, Elena auditioned for the Russian television show Star Factory, where she landed a spot as one of the contestants. Although she did not win the competition, her performance earned her a recording contract with Sony Music Russia. She released her debut single “Time Machine” in 2004, which was a major success in Russia and throughout Europe. This single was also included on her debut studio album, entitled Time Machine (2004).

Rise to Fame

In 2006, Elena released her second studio album, entitled My World (2006). The album was a major success and spawned the hit singles “Nazad” and “My World”. The album was certified gold by the IFPI for selling over 100,000 copies in Europe. In 2011, she released her third studio album, entitled People (2011), which was also a major success. The lead single from the album, “People”, peaked at number one on the Russian charts.

In 2013, Elena released her fourth studio album, entitled Love (2013). The album was certified gold by the IFPI for selling over 100,000 copies in Europe. The lead single from the album “Love” peaked at number one on the Russian charts. In 2016, she released her fifth studio album, entitled Together (2016). The lead single from the album “Together” peaked at number one on the Russian charts.

Awards & Achievements

In 2006, Elena won an MTV Europe Music Award for Best Russian Act. She has also been nominated for numerous awards including two World Music Awards and four MTV Video Music Awards Japan.
