Early Life and Career
ELMAN was born Emanuel Schmerl in Berlin, Germany in 1988. He grew up listening to a variety of music genres including soul, jazz, funk, Afrobeat and hip-hop. At the age of 14 he began writing his own songs and playing the piano. By his late teens he was already performing in local venues around Berlin.
Breakthrough Success
ELMAN’s breakthrough success came in 2012 when he released his debut album “The Way We Are”. The album featured a mix of soulful R&B grooves and funk-infused melodies. It was met with critical acclaim from critics and fans alike. The single “On My Way” was particularly successful, reaching number one on the German charts.
Collaborations
In 2014 ELMAN collaborated with MAYA on the single “Lonely Nights”. The song was a huge hit in Europe, reaching number two on the German charts. He has since gone on to collaborate with KARO and Sigma on a number of tracks.
