Who Is Fazura?

Fazura, born Nur Fazura Sharifuddin (also known as simply Fazura), is a Malaysian singer-songwriter, actress and television host. She rose to fame in the early 2000s with her debut album, F!, which was released in 2003. Fazura is one of the most successful music artists in Malaysia, having won numerous awards for her talents in singing, acting and hosting. She is also well-known for her philanthropy work and has been involved in various charitable initiatives throughout her career.

Early Life & Career

Fazura was born in 1984 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her father worked as a construction worker while her mother was a housewife. From a young age, Fazura showed an aptitude for performing arts and was involved in various school plays throughout her childhood. She eventually decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry and enrolled at the National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage in Kuala Lumpur. It was during this time that she began to write her own songs and perform them at local events. In 2003, she released her debut album titled F!, which became an instant hit in Malaysia. The album spawned several hit singles such as 'Sanggup Bercinta', 'Cinta Sejati' and 'Takkan Terpisah'.

Acting & Hosting Career

In addition to her music career, Fazura has also had a successful career in acting. She made her acting debut in the television series Dendam Orang Mati (2005) and has since starred in various other series such as Ketika Cinta Bertasbih (2009), Laila (2010) and Anugerah Juara Lagu (2011). She has also appeared on the big screen with roles in films such as Semua Sayang Eneng (2007) and Paskal: The Movie (2018). Besides acting, Fazura is also a well-known television host. She hosted the popular children's show Anak-Anak Angkasawan (2006) on Astro Ria for four years. She has also hosted several talk shows such as Pesona Wanita (2013) and Mahligai Impian (2014).

Social Causes

Apart from her work in the entertainment industry, Fazura is also an advocate for social causes. She was appointed as a United Nations Development Programme Goodwill Ambassador for Malaysia in 2009 and has been involved in various charitable initiatives throughout her career. Over the years, she has lent her support to causes such as poverty alleviation, environmental protection, health care and education. In 2018, she was also appointed as the ambassador of Yayasan Sultanah Bahiyah which aims to improve the quality of life of children with disabilities.

Awards & Recognition

Fazura's hard work has been recognized by numerous awards throughout her career. In 2014, she won the award for Best Actress at the Malaysia Film Festival for her role in the film Semua Sayang Eneng. The same year she also won two awards at the Anugerah Industri Muzik for Best Female Vocal Performance and Best Pop Album for her album Aku & I. Besides these awards, she has also won several other awards for her work as an actress and television host.
