Who is Howie Day?

Howie Day is an American singer-songwriter best known for his hit songs Collide, She Says and Ghost. He is a multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, piano, harmonica and percussion. His music has been featured on many television shows and movies. He is currently signed to Vanguard Records.

Early life

Howard Kern Day, better known as Howie Day, was born on January 15th, 1979 in Brewer, Maine. He began playing music at an early age, teaching himself guitar at the age of 13 and developing his own unique style by combining elements of rock, pop and folk. By the age of 16 he had started performing at local clubs in Maine.

Career

In 2000, Day released his first album Australia which was received with critical acclaim. He quickly gained a fan base in the indie music scene and signed a record deal with Epic Records in 2003. His major label debut Stop All The World Now was released that same year and featured the hit single Collide which became a top 40 hit in the US. His follow up album Sound the Alarm was released in 2006 and featured the song She Says which was also a top 40 hit. In 2008 he released his third album Pause & Effect which received mixed reviews from critics but still managed to peak at #29 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Over the years Day has developed a reputation as an incredible live performer. He often utilizes looping pedals to layer his own voice and instruments creating a unique soundscape for each song. His concerts are filled with passionate singing, intricate guitar playing and stories about his life experiences. He continues to tour regularly and perform around the world.

Legacy

To date Howie Day has released four studio albums and multiple EPs and singles. His music has been featured on television shows such as Grey's Anatomy and movies like Raising Helen and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. He has toured extensively throughout his career bringing his unique blend of rock, pop and folk to fans across the globe.
