Huong Tram is a Vietnamese music artist, singer and songwriter. She's best known for her unique take on traditional Vietnamese music, combining elements of pop and folk to create something that's both modern and classic. Born Phạm Việt Hương in 1981 in Da Nang, Vietnam, Huong Tram was exposed to music at an early age. Her father owned a karaoke bar and she often sang there with her family.
Early Career
Huong Tram’s first foray into the world of music was as a backing vocalist for other popular Vietnamese singers. In 2000 she released her debut single “Ngày Tận Thế” which quickly became a hit amongst fans of traditional Vietnamese music. The success of the single propelled her to fame and opened up many opportunities for her in the music industry.
Rise to Fame
In 2003 Huong Tram released her debut album “Lời Thiên Thần” (“Angel’s Words”). The album was an instant success and featured several of Huong Tram’s biggest hits including “Ngày Tận Thế” and “Hãy Làm Sao Đây?” (“What Can I Do?”). The album was certified gold and won several awards including Best Female Singer at the Golden Kite Awards.
Collaborations
Huong Tram has collaborated with several other Vietnamese artists over the years including DNA, Marion Jola and Thanh Tùng. She has also collaborated with international musicians such as U-Ray (United States) and G-Dragon (Korea). In 2018 she released a duet with G-Dragon titled “The Greatest” which quickly became a viral hit.
Continued Success
In 2020 Huong Tram released her fourth studio album “Về Nơi Bình Yên” (“Back to Peaceful Place”). The album was highly acclaimed by fans and critics alike for its blend of traditional Vietnamese instruments with modern production techniques. It was certified platinum by the Vietnam Record Industry Association and won Album of the Year at the Golden Kite Awards.
