Idris Elba is an English actor, producer, musician and DJ. He has starred in numerous films and television series including The Wire, Luther and Beasts of No Nation. He also voiced Chief Bogo in Zootopia, Shere Khan in The Jungle Book and Fluke in Finding Dory.
Early Life
Elba was born on 6 September 1972 in Hackney, London to Winston, a Sierra Leonean man from Sierra Leone, and Eve, a Ghanaian woman from Ghana. He was raised in East Ham, London and attended school there until the age of 16.
Career
Elba's acting career began in 1994 with a role in the British crime drama series Crimewatch. He went on to appear in various television productions such as The Bill and The Ruth Rendell Mysteries. He made his feature film debut in 2001 with roles in the romantic comedy Daddy's Little Girls and the psychological thriller Sometimes in April. In 2002 he appeared as a drug lord in the hip hop film Turn It Up.
Music Career
Elba released his debut single “Please Be True” in 2010 and his debut album Idris Elba Presents mi Mandela in 2014. He has also released several singles such as “Ghetto Gospel”, “Lover of the Light” and “Make It Rain”. In 2017 he released his third studio album Mi Mandela.

Elba has starred in many films such as 28 Weeks Later (2007), American Gangster (2007), Prometheus (2012) and Pacific Rim (2013). He also voiced Chief Bogo in Zootopia (2016), Shere Khan in The Jungle Book (2016) and Fluke in Finding Dory (2016). On television he starred as Stringer Bell in The Wire (2002–2004) and as John Luther in Luther (2010–present).
