Who is Imany?

Imany is a French singer, songwriter and producer originally from Comoros. She became famous after the release of her debut album The Shape of a Broken Heart in 2011. The album was certified platinum in France, Russia and Poland. Imany has since released two more albums – The Wrong Kind of War (2015) and There Were Tears (2018). Her singles “Don’t Be So Shy” and “You Will Never Know” have become international hits, receiving airplay on radio stations in Europe and beyond.

Early Life

Imany was born Nadia Mladjao on April 8, 1979 in Moroni, Comoros. She spent her childhood in France, where she was raised by her mother. Imany began singing at a young age and soon started writing her own songs. She studied music at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis before entering the show business.

Career

Imany made her professional debut in 2006 with the single “You Will Never Know”. The song went to number one on the French charts and received airplay in other countries as well. Her debut album The Shape of a Broken Heart was released in 2011 and spawned several hit singles such as “Don’t Be So Shy”, “Slow Down” and “Silver Lining (Clap Your Hands)”. The album was certified platinum in France, Russia and Poland. In 2015, she released her second album The Wrong Kind of War which included the singles “Hey Little Sister” and “No Reason No Rhyme”. In 2018, Imany returned with her third album There Were Tears which featured the singles “The Good, The Bad & The Crazy” and “Shape of a Pilot”.

Personal Life

Imany is currently based in Paris, France. She is married to French actor Tewfik Jallab and has two children with him. She also has a daughter from a previous relationship. In her free time she enjoys traveling, reading and cooking.
