Born José Luis Zambrano Ruiz in 1979 in San Gil, Colombia, Jimmy Zambrano is a singer-songwriter whose passion for music began at a very young age. As a child, he was influenced by the traditional Colombian rhythms of Vallenato and Cumbia, which he would later combine with contemporary genres like pop and reggaeton.
Early Life and Career Beginnings
At the age of 15, Zambrano moved from his hometown to Bogotá where he began to work as a backing vocalist for several artists. He soon joined the group 'Pasabordo,' becoming their lead singer in 2006. The group was signed to Sony Music Colombia in 2007 and released two albums: Pasabordo (2008) and Carretera Vip (2010).
Rise to Fame
In 2015, he released his debut solo album 'Fuera de Serie' which included the hit single 'Besos En Guerra.' The song quickly rose to the top of the Latin airplay charts and was awarded a Latin Grammy nomination in 2016. Some of his other popular songs include 'Ay Amor', 'Vida Mía', and 'Dime Que Si'.
