Jorge Ben Jor is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, guitarist and arranger. He was born as Jorge Duilio Lima Menezes on March 22nd, 1942 in Rio de Janeiro. He has been a prominent figure in Brazilian music since the 1960s, when he first started recording as ""Jorge Ben"". He released his first solo album in 1969 and changed his stage name to ""Jorge Ben Jor"" in 1983.

Career

Jorge Ben's career began in 1963 when he signed with Philips Records. His debut album ""Samba Esquema Novo"" was released that same year and was an instant success. It featured his iconic song ""Mas Que Nada"", which went on to become one of the most popular Brazilian songs of all time.
