Kavinsky is a French electronic music producer and DJ born Vincent Belorgey in Paris, France. He began producing in 2006 and released several singles and EPs throughout his career. He is most well-known for his 80s-style synthwave tracks, often with a heavy focus on nostalgia. His debut studio album, OutRun, was released in 2013.
Early Career
In 2006 Kavinsky released his first single, “Testarossa Autodrive”, on the Record Makers label. His second EP, 1986, was released in 2007 to much critical acclaim. It featured the track “Nightcall” which was later featured in the film Drive starring Ryan Gosling. He also released a series of singles on Record Makers including “Deadcruiser”, “Protovision” and “Blizzard”.
Collaborations
Kavinsky has collaborated with many other artists over the years. He worked with Breakbot on the track “Nightcall” from his debut album OutRun, as well as the track “Sunglasses at Night” from the same album. He also collaborated with The Weeknd on the track “Odd Look” from his mixtape Thursday and with Lovefoxxx on the track “Suburbia” from her EP Cool Summer.
