Who Is Kaytranada?

Kaytranada (born Louis Kevin Celestin) is a Canadian electronic music producer and DJ who has gained international recognition for his works. He is the founder of the record label, HW&W Recordings. His debut studio album, 99.9%, won the Polaris Music Prize in 2016.

He began making music as a teenager, producing beats for local rappers in his hometown of Montreal. His first mixtape, titled KAYTRAINDA, was released in 2010. In 2013, he released his second mixtape and it was well received by critics.

Rise to Fame

In 2014, Kaytranada released his third mixtape, titled 0.001%. The mixtape was well-received and led to him signing a major label deal with XL Recordings. He then released his debut studio album 99.9% in 2016. The album featured collaborations with artists such as Pharrell Williams, Anderson .Paak, GoldLink, and Tory Lanez.

The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number one on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart. It also won the Polaris Music Prize in 2016 and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album in 2017.

Collaborations

Kaytranada has collaborated with numerous artists over the years. He has produced music for artists such as Drake, Solange Knowles, Lil Yachty, and Mac Miller. He has also been featured on tracks by Anderson .Paak, GoldLink, and Tory Lanez.

Kaytranada has been nominated for several awards including two Grammy Awards for Best Dance/Electronic Album (for 99.9%) and Best Dance Recording (for “10%”). He has also won multiple Juno Awards for Electronic Album of the Year (for 99.9%) and Producer of the Year (for “10%”).
