Laleh’s Life Story

Laleh is an award-winning Iranian-Swedish singer-songwriter, actress and music producer. Born Laleh Pourkarim on June 10th 1976 in Bandar-e Anzali, Iran, she is one of the most successful Swedish artists of all time. She moved to Sweden with her family at the age of seven in 1983. Her love for music began at a young age and she started writing songs as a teenager. She released her debut album in 2005 and has since released five more successful studio albums.

Laleh has won multiple awards throughout her career including Best Female Pop Artist of the Year at the Swedish Grammy Awards in 2007. In addition to her singing career, Laleh has also acted in movies and television series and has appeared in numerous television shows as a guest performer. She is also a passionate activist for human rights and environmental causes.

Music Career

Laleh’s music career began in 2005 with the release of her debut album “Laleh” which was an instant success in Sweden. The album was certified gold in Sweden and spawned several charting singles including “Live Tomorrow” which was her first top 10 hit single on the Swedish charts. Her follow up album “Me and Simon” was released in 2006 and was certified platinum in Sweden. The album also spawned several charting singles including “Invisible (My Song)” which was her first single to chart on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Since then Laleh has released four more studio albums: “Klang” (2008), “Sjung” (2012), “Kom” (2014) and “Väntar på dig” (2017). All of these albums have been certified gold or platinum in Sweden and spawned several charting singles. Laleh has also released numerous non-album singles over the years including “Some Die Young” which was an international hit single that reached the top 10 on the Swedish charts and the top 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

Acting Career

In addition to her music career, Laleh has also appeared in a few movies and television series. Her most notable role was in the 2009 movie “I rymden finns inga känslor” which was nominated for several awards including Best Actress at the Guldbagge Awards. She was also cast as a judge on the Swedish version of “The Voice” which ran for three seasons from 2011 to 2013.

Activism

Laleh is an outspoken activist for human rights and environmental causes. She has campaigned against child labor and has spoken out against homophobia and racism. She is also a passionate advocate for animal rights and environmental protection. She has written several songs about these issues including “Some Die Young” which became an international hit single.

Laleh continues to use her platform to speak out about issues that matter to her and she continues to make great strides in her music career too. Her latest album “Väntar på dig” was released in 2017 to critical acclaim.
