Las Pelotas: A Short History

Las Pelotas is an Argentine rock band formed in 1989 by the brothers Daniel and Diego Argañaraz. The group has released seven studio albums, one live album and three compilations. Their music is a mix of rock, pop and reggae with Latin American rhythms such as cumbia and ska.

Early Years

The band's first album, 'Amanecer', was released in 1993. The album featured the singles 'No Me Verás Caer' and 'Si Tú No Estás'. It was a huge success in Argentina and the surrounding countries. The band went on to release their second album, 'Todos los Días', in 1995. The album featured the singles 'Cada Vez Más Cerca' and 'No Puedo Parar'.

Breakthrough Success

In 1997, Las Pelotas released their third album, 'Todo el Tiempo del Mundo', which spawned several hits including 'La Rueda del Tiempo', 'Loco de Amor' and 'Sólo un Momento'. The album was certified gold in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. The band went on to tour extensively throughout South America, playing at some of the biggest festivals in the region. They also performed at several high-profile international festivals such as SXSW in Austin, Texas.

Recent Years

In 2004, Las Pelotas released their fourth studio album, 'Mundo', which was certified double platinum in Argentina. The band also released a live album in 2006, entitled 'En Vivo'. This was followed by their fifth studio album, 'Esfuerzo de Contención', in 2008. Their sixth album, 'Libre', was released in 2016 and featured the singles 'Voy a Ir' and 'Te Vi Venir'. Following this they released a compilation of their greatest hits in 2019 entitled '30 Años'. To date, Las Pelotas have sold over 4 million albums worldwide.
