Living Colour is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 1984. The group currently consists of four members: vocalist Corey Glover, guitarist Vernon Reid, bassist Doug Wimbish, and drummer Will Calhoun. Along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fishbone, and Rage Against the Machine, Living Colour has been credited as one of the most influential rock bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Music Career

Living Colour's music combines elements of heavy metal, funk, hip-hop, punk, hard rock and jazz fusion. Their debut album Vivid was released in 1988 and was certified double platinum by the RIAA. It featured the singles ""Cult of Personality"" which won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 1989 and ""Glamour Boys"". The band's third album Time's Up (1990) featured contributions from several guest musicians including John Mayer and Lenny Kravitz. In 1993, Living Colour released their fourth album Stain which was their highest-charting album in the US at number 13 on the Billboard 200 chart. During their career, Living Colour have collaborated with artists like Guns N' Roses and Slash.

Living Colour have released six studio albums throughout their career: Vivid (1988), Time's Up (1990), Stain (1993), Collideøscope (2003), The Chair in the Doorway (2009) and Shade (2017). They have also released three live albums: Live From CBGB's (1995), Alive In America (1995) and Live From London (2002). They have also released several compilations, EPs and singles throughout their career.

Awards & Accolades

Living Colour have been nominated for multiple awards including five Grammy Awards. They won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance for their single ""Cult of Personality"" in 1989. They were also nominated for MTV Video Music Awards for Best Group Video for ""Cult of Personality"" in 1989. In 2009 they were nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for their track ""Aqua Lung"". Living Colour were also inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
