Who Is Lloyd Banks?

Christopher Charles Lloyd, better known as Lloyd Banks, is an American rapper and songwriter from Queens, New York. He was born on April 30, 1982 and is best known for his hits “Karma” and “On Fire”. His debut album The Hunger for More was released in 2004 and went on to be certified double platinum by the RIAA. Banks is also well known for his collaborations with 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, Kanye West, and Juelz Santana.

Early Life

Lloyd Banks was born in New Carrollton, Maryland and raised in Queens, New York. Growing up in Queens, Banks was surrounded by hip-hop culture from a young age. He began writing raps at age 16 and was influenced by the likes of Big L and Nas. In 1999, he linked up with fellow Queens natives 50 Cent and Tony Yayo to form G-Unit. G-Unit went on to become one of the biggest acts in hip-hop music.

Career

Banks' first solo mixtape was released in 2001 under the name The Hungry Ghost. The mixtape featured the hit single “Karma” which put him on the map as a solo artist. In 2004 he released his debut album The Hunger for More which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. He followed this up with two more albums Rotten Apple (2006) and H.F.M. 2 (2010). Both albums were certified gold by the RIAA.

Collaborations

In addition to his solo work, Lloyd Banks has collaborated with several other artists throughout his career. He has worked with 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Young Buck, Kanye West, Juelz Santana and more. He has also been featured on several tracks from the G-Unit group albums Beg for Mercy (2003) and Terminate on Sight (2008).

Lloyd Banks currently resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife and two daughters. He is active on social media posting updates about upcoming music releases and shows. In 2017 he was also featured in a documentary entitled G-Unit: The Lost Flash Drive which chronicled the rise of G-Unit Records.
