Mad Clip is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer from the Bronx, New York. He is best known for his chart-topping singles “Heatwave” and “Candyland”. His music has been described as a mix of old-school hip hop and modern trap music. He has collaborated with several other renowned artists in the hip hop industry such as Young Thug, Lil Baby and Rich the Kid.

Early Life & Career Beginnings

Mad Clip was born Thomas Jones on February 8th, 1988 in the Bronx. He grew up in a tough part of town but was determined to make a better life for himself. As a teenager, he was fascinated by rap music and started writing his own lyrics. He began performing at local clubs and quickly developed a following in the underground rap scene.

Rise to Fame

In 2014, Mad Clip released his first full-length album titled “Heatwave” which featured several hit singles including “Candyland” and “Big Bank”. The album was an instant success and reached #4 on the US Rap charts. Following the success of the album, he embarked on an international tour performing in cities all around the world. In 2018, he released his second album titled “The Come Up” which showcased his growth as an artist and received critical acclaim.

In 2020, Mad Clip released his third album titled “The Come Up 2” which featured collaborations with some of the biggest names in the hip hop industry such as Young Thug, Lil Baby and Rich The Kid. The album was a commercial success and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart. He also released a documentary titled “The Making Of The Come Up 2” which showcased behind-the-scenes footage of him recording the album.

Awards & Accomplishments

Mad Clip has been nominated for several awards throughout his career including two Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album (for Heatwave and The Come Up). In 2018, he was honored by the Bronx Walk of Fame for his contributions to hip hop music. He is currently working on his fourth studio album which is scheduled to be released later this year.
