Who Is Mau P?

It is not often that an artist of Mau P’s caliber joins the ranks in electronic music. In what can only be described as the break-out story of the decade, Drugs From Amsterdam and Metro originator Mau P has indisputably left his mark on the dance music scene since August 2022, when his debut single was released.

Born Maurice Westveen into a family brimming with musical genius, the artist within was destined to come out at some point. Starting a career as DJ and producer Maurice West, he quickly made his way onto world’s premier stages and into the hearts of many. Despite everything seemingly running smoothly, the Maurice West project had run its course and a seismic shift was in the works. Fast forward to today and Mau P is reaping the rewards of a leap of faith, the wager on his artistry paying off in a spectacular manner.

Early Career & Success

Bursting onto the scene with the aforementioned Drugs From Amsterdam, Mau P set the bar incredibly high right from the start. His debut single rocketed from the underground to become a huge global hit with close to two hundred million streams across platforms. Drugs From Amsterdam cracked the charts, topped Beatport’s prestigious Top 10 for over a month and turned out to be the beginning of a meteoric upwards trajectory.

In January 2023 Mau P added the eagerly awaited Gimme That Bounce to his musical arsenal. It was during this time that the Mau P name began making waves internationally and was booked for his first shows, immediately selling out venues across North America, including stops in Miami, NYC, Las Vegas, LA and Mexico City. One of which sold out shows was his very own concept show during Miami Music Week, when competition is at an all time high.

The summer that followed, Mau P was firing on all cylinders, releasing official remixes for the Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris and Armand van Helden as well as his original collaboration with Kevin de Vries Metro on Afterlife. The latter of which became the most played track of Tomorrowland 2023, only to be followed in second place by Drugs From Amsterdam. In 2023 Mau P also released Your Mind Is Dirty and Dress Code, which both turned out hugely successful in their own right. The first of which becoming EDC Orlando’s unofficial anthem and the later making its way to the top of Beatport, staying there for five consecutive weeks.

Tour & Festivals

Over the course of 2023, Mau P graced the stages of acclaimed international clubs and festivals, from EDC Las Vegas and Tomorrowland to Ushuaïa Ibiza and most recently a show in the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. Back on home turf for Amsterdam Dance Event, Mau P managed to sell out the iconic Thuishaven, during which he performed from open to close for six hours.

Upcoming

In gearing up for 2024, Mau P is on the cusp of new milestones already, teasing the arrival of his most sought-after ID BEATS FOR THE UNDERGROUND and announcing headlining performances at NY’s Knockdown Centre, Miami’s Space and The Caverns in Tennessee.

Most notably, Mau P is added to the Wynn Las Vegas roster of resident DJs in 2024. A feat often achieved by artists after many years of building stature. Adding to Mau P’s newfound dominance over the United States is the start of a weekly radio show XXX Radio - pronounced triple x - with the acclaimed SiriusXM, which aired first on January 28, 2024.

It is indeed not often that an artist of Mau P’s caliber joins the ranks, as demonstrated by a jaw-dropping list of accolades achieved in the first year. Looking back on 12 months of highlights, it’s safe to say that Mau P has broken the mold. As he continues to carve out his section of the dance music industry, Mau P will remain the name to watch for some time to come.
