Who is MC Lemos?

MC Lemos is a Brazilian MC who has become one of the most popular names in funk music. Born as Lemos de Oliveira in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1980s, he began his career as a street performer in his early teens. It was at this point that he adopted the name MC Lemos and started to create his own music.

Early Career

MC Lemos rose to fame with the release of his debut single “Hoje eu Vou Saír” in 2004. The song was an instant hit with funk fans throughout Rio de Janeiro and was soon followed by a remix featuring fellow Brazilian MC Kevin o Chris. This collaboration marked the beginning of a successful partnership between the two artists that would span several years.

Breakthrough Success

In 2006, MC Lemos released his debut album “Mais Que Um Sonho” which featured collaborations with a number of established Brazilian funk artists including MC Pedrinho, MC Hariel and MC Livinho. The album was an instant success, reaching number one on the Brazilian charts and selling over 500,000 copies in its first week of release. It was certified double platinum by the Brazilian recording industry association (ABPD) in 2008.

Continued Success

Following the success of “Mais Que Um Sonho”, MC Lemos went on to release several more albums which further cemented his status as one of Brazil’s most popular funk artists. His most recent album “Vou Te Mostrar” was released in 2018 and featured collaborations with a number of established Brazilian rappers and singers, including MC Livinho and Anitta. The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number one on the Brazilian charts and earning him a nomination for Best Male Pop Artist at the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards.

Throughout his career, MC Lemos has become one of Brazil’s most beloved funk artists. His songs have been streamed millions of times on streaming platforms such as Spotify and YouTube and he has earned numerous awards and nominations for his work.
