Early Life and Career

Michael Giacchino was born on October 10, 1967 in Riverside Township, New Jersey. He began playing the piano at age seven and became a professional musician in his teens. He eventually moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film scoring. His first major break came when he was hired by Brad Bird to compose the score for The Iron Giant in 1999. This was followed by a number of other successful projects, including Alias and Lost.
