Who is Miguel Mateos?

Miguel Ángel Mateos (born June 29, 1952) is an Argentinian singer and songwriter, best known for his hit singles 'Zas' and 'Obsesion'. He began his career in the late 1970s as the lead vocalist of the rock band Los Ratones Paranoicos. He then went solo in 1986 with his debut solo album Miguel Mateos. He released 11 studio albums throughout his career, as well as several live albums and compilations.

Mateos has released 11 studio albums over his career: Miguel Mateos (1986), Intuición (1988), Ya No Hay Forma de Pedir Perdón (1990), Atado a Un Sentimiento (1992), Es Tan Facil Romper Un Corazón (1995), Solamente Una Vez (1998), Cerca del Amor (1999), La Historia de la Música Pop en Argentina (2002), XXI (2004), 25 Años Después del Rock Nacional (2009). His most successful album was Intuición, which spawned the singles ‘Zas’ and ‘Obsesión’. The album was certified Platinum in Argentina and sold over 500,000 copies worldwide.

Collaborations

Mateos has collaborated with several other artists throughout his career. He collaborated with long-time friend Fito Páez on the single ‘La Paloma’ in 1989. He also collaborated with Catupecu Machu on the single ‘Dame Veneno’ in 2002. In 2004 he collaborated with Marcela Morelo on the single ‘No Será Lo Mismo’.

Awards

Mateos has won several awards throughout his career, including several Gardel Awards for Best Rock Album. In 2009 he was inducted into the Latin American Music Hall of Fame. In 2016 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Argentina.>
