Who is Hwang Minhyun?

Hwang Minhyun, most commonly known by his stage name MINHYUN, is a South Korean singer and actor. He is a member of the boy band NU'EST, formed by Pledis Entertainment in 2012. He was also a member of the project group Wanna One, formed through the Mnet survival show Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Hwang Minhyun was born on August 9, 1995 in Busan, South Korea. He attended Busan High School of Arts and was a trainee at Pledis Entertainment for six years before debuting with NU’EST. His first public appearance was during a showcase for Pledis Entertainment’s 2010 Christmas album.

Career with NU’EST

In 2012, MINHYUN debuted as part of NU’EST alongside JR, Aron, Baekho, and Ren. The group released their debut mini-album “Action” in March 2012 and made their official music show debut on M! Countdown on March 15 that year. They released their first full-length album “Re:BIRTH” in 2014. In 2017, MINHYUN was chosen to be part of the project group Wanna One and he left NU’EST temporarily to promote with Wanna One until December 2018.

Solo Activities

MINHYUN has also had success outside of the group with numerous solo activities. His most notable solo endeavor was being cast as the male lead in the web drama “A-TEEN” in 2018. He also participated in various variety shows such as “Law of the Jungle” and “The Unit”.

NU’EST has released numerous extended plays and albums over the years such as “Action” (2012), “Re:BIRTH” (2014), “Q Is” (2015), “Canvas” (2017), and “Happily Ever After” (2018).
