Early Life
Obie was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He began performing at a young age, playing the trumpet and singing in church choirs. He cites Michael Jackson as one of his earliest influences.
Career Beginnings
In 2001, Obie released his debut album Antes. The lead single “Antes” was an immediate hit and reached the top of the Billboard Latin Tropical Airplay chart. The album itself was certified gold in the U.S., with hits like “Aquí”, “Tu No Tienes Corazon” and “Te Regalo Amores” also gaining traction on Spanish radio stations.
Collaborations
Obie has collaborated with a number of famous artists during his career. He featured on Gloria Estefan’s 2003 single “No Llores” and India’s 2004 track “Tú Me Vuelves Loco”.
