Paul Young is an English singer, songwriter and musician. He rose to fame in 1982 with his single 'Come Back and Stay', when he was 26 years old, and has since released numerous albums and singles. He has been nominated for two Brit Awards, for Best British Male in 1984 and 1985.Early Life
Paul Young was born on 17 January 1956 in Luton, Bedfordshire. His father was a lorry driver and his mother a lab technician. As a child, Paul attended Stopsley High School in Luton. It was here that he first became interested in music, playing drums in a band called Kat Kool & the Kool Kats with some of his classmates.Career
In 1982, Young signed with CBS Records as a solo artist and released his debut single 'Iron Out the Rough Spots' which reached number 48 on the UK Singles Chart. The following year, he released 'Come Back and Stay', which became a hit across Europe and peaked at number 8 on the UK Singles Chart. In 1985, Young released his debut album 'No Parlez', which was an international success. The album peaked at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart and spawned several hit singles including 'Love of the Common People' which reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart.Later Career
In 1989, Young released his second album 'The Secret of Association'. This was followed by 'Between Two Fires' (1990), 'Elected Few' (1991) and 'Reflections' (1993). His most successful album to date is 'From Time to Time: The Singles Collection' (1994) which reached number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. In 1995, he released the album 'Stripped to the Bare Bones'. In 2000, he released his sixth studio album 'Don't Wait Up'.Recent Work
In 2005, Young released his seventh studio album 'Rock Swings'. This was followed by 'Good Thing' (2008), 'Rock Revisted' (2009), 'Sway' (2010) and 'Chronicles' (2013). In 2015, he released the album 'Good Times Gonna Come'.Legacy
