His career as a musician began in 1974 when he joined the band Serú Girán. From then on, Pedro has collaborated with numerous well-known artists such as Mercedes Sosa, Luis Alberto Spinetta and Charly García.
Early Life of Pedro Aznar
As a child, Pedro showed a passion for music, playing the flute in a school orchestra and later the guitar. After enrolling in the National Conservatory of Music, he started writing his own songs at the age of nineteen and recorded his first album shortly after.
Career Breakthrough
In 1979, Pedro joined forces with the Argentinian rock band Serú Girán where he shared the stage with Luis Alberto Spinetta. This collaboration marked the beginning of Pedro’s career as a professional musician and soon enough he was touring around the world. In 1983, he released his first solo album entitled “Punto de Partida” which gave him international recognition.
Collaborations
Throughout his career, Pedro has worked with many different artists such as Fito Páez, Charly García and Mercedes Sosa with whom he released two albums: “Corazón Libre” (1994) and “Cantora” (1996). In 2003, he was invited to collaborate on the album “Tango Club” by Argentinean composer Astor Piazzolla which was nominated for a Latin Grammy Award.
Later Years
In 2011, Pedro was awarded the Konex Platinum Prize for his outstanding contribution to the Argentinian music industry. In 2013 he released his latest album “Agua y Sal” which earned him a nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards in 2014. To this day, Pedro continues to perform around the world and is recognized as one of Argentina's most beloved musicians.
