Philthy Rich was born Phillip Beasley in 1982. He moved around a lot as a child due to his parents' separation, eventually settling in Oakland in his teenage years. It was here he discovered his love for hip hop and began to learn how to rap. In 2006 he released his first mixtape, 'The Jacka Presents: Philthy Rich'. The mixtape was well received and helped launch his career. Since then he has released a total of 18 studio albums and numerous mixtapes.
