Who are the Pistol Annies?
Pistol Annies is a female country music trio made up of three of the genre’s most recognized stars: Miranda Lambert, Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe. The trio first formed in 2011 when they came together to write songs for Lambert's fourth studio album Four the Record. The chemistry between these three women was undeniable, and so they decided to join forces for a full-length album collaboration.
Pistol Annies' Music Career
In 2011, the group released their first album Hell on Heels under the label Columbia Nashville Records. The album was a hit and peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. The album's lead single “Hell on Heels” was also a success and peaked at number 14 on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The group released two more albums in 2013 (Annie Up) and 2018 (Interstate Gospel), both of which were met with critical acclaim.
Collaborations
In addition to their own music, Pistol Annies have collaborated on several other projects. In 2019, they appeared on Lil Nas X’s hit song “Old Town Road” which became the longest-running number one single in US chart history. They also appeared on Kane Brown’s 2020 song “Weekend” and have featured on other tracks by artists such as Brandy Clark, Maren Morris and Kacey Musgraves.
The Group Today
Although the group has taken several hiatuses over the years due to their solo careers and other commitments, they still make music together from time to time. In 2020, they released two singles “Best Years of My Life” and “Got My Name Changed Back” which were both huge hits. They continue to make music today and remain some of the most beloved female country stars in the industry.
