Royce Da 5'9, born Ryan Montgomery, is an American rapper and songwriter from Detroit, Michigan. He's been active in the hip-hop community since 1998 and is best known for his collaborations with Eminem, Dr. Dre, DJ Premier, Busta Rhymes, and Slaughterhouse. Royce Da 5'9 is considered one of the most respected lyricists in rap music today.Early Career
Royce Da 5'9 started rapping at the age of 14 under the name 'Royce The Choice'. He made his debut in 1998 on the song 'Not Tonight' by DJ Clue featuring Fabolous, DMX and Remy Ma. He also released his first solo single 'Rock City.' In 2001, he formed the group Bad Meets Evil with Eminem and signed to Shady Records. The group released their first EP Hell: The Sequel in 2011.Solo Career
Royce Da 5'9 released his first solo album Rock City in 2002. His second solo album was Death Is Certain which was released in 2004. In 2009 he released Street Hop which featured production from J.U.S.T.I.C.E League and DJ Premier. In 2011 he released Success Is Certain which featured guest appearances from Eminem, Kid Rock, Bun B and more. He released his fifth solo album Layers in 2016.Collaborations
