Who is Sam Fender?

Sam Fender is an English singer-songwriter from North Shields. His soulful lyrics and powerful delivery have earned him a dedicated following as well as a Brits Critics’ Choice Award in 2019. He has toured with major acts like The Libertines and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Early Life

Fender began writing music at the age of 16 in his bedroom. He was heavily influenced by his hometown's musical heritage of bands like The Animals and Lindisfarne. After releasing several EPs, he released his debut album ‘Hypersonic Missiles’ in 2019 which was met with critical acclaim.

Career

Fender has toured extensively throughout Europe and the US. He has also performed at a number of festivals including Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, and Lollapalooza. His single ‘Dead Boys’ was featured in the film ‘The Dirt’ as well as a number of other films and TV shows. He has also collaborated with artists such as Dermot Kennedy, Tom Walker and Lewis Capaldi.

Awards

Fender won the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award in 2019. He was also nominated for two Brit Awards in 2020 for Best British Male Solo Artist and Best British Album for ‘Hypersonic Missiles’.

Personal Life

Fender currently lives in London with his partner and their two children. He is passionate about supporting local charities and is an avid supporter of the mental health charity Mind. He also regularly performs benefit gigs for a variety of causes.
