Who is Smokepurpp?

Smokepurpp, also known as Omar Pineiro, is an American rapper and producer from Miami, Florida. He is known for his unique sound that blends trap and rap music with elements of alternative hip hop. He first gained recognition for his single “Ski Mask” which was released in 2017. Since then, he has collaborated with many other artists such as Lil Pump, Gucci Mane, PartyNextDoor, and Lil Yachty.

Early Life and Career

Pineiro began making music at a young age. He started out by making beats on his laptop and uploading them to YouTube. He eventually gained recognition in the Miami music scene and began making appearances at local venues. In 2016 he released his first EP titled Deadstar under the name Smokepurpp. It featured the single “Ski Mask” which gained traction on SoundCloud. The following year he released his second EP titled Deadstar 2.

Breakthrough Success

In 2018 Smokepurpp signed with Alamo Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. That same year he released his debut studio album titled Deadstar: The Mixtape which featured collaborations with artists such as Juicy J and Chief Keef. The album received critical acclaim and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 2019 he released his second studio album titled Lost Planet 2.0 which featured guest appearances from Quavo, Denzel Curry, and Travis Scott. The album was supported by the singles “Nephew” and “Do Not Disturb”.

Latest Projects

In 2020 Smokepurpp released two EP's titled Florida Jit and Lost Planet 2.5. The EP's featured collaborations with Lil Mosey, Lil Keed, and Yung Bans. He has also announced that he will be releasing his third studio album later this year. His latest single “Audi” was released in June 2020 and received positive reviews from critics.

Personal Life

Smokepurpp currently lives in Los Angeles where he is continuing to work on new music. He is also active on social media with over two million followers across Instagram and Twitter combined.
