The Success Story of Snap!
Who is Snap!?
Snap! is a Eurodance group formed in 1989 by German producers Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti. The duo is best known for their hits “The Power”, “Rhythm Is a Dancer”, and “Ooops Up”.
Early Career
Snap! got their start in 1989 when producers Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti met at a recording studio in Germany. They decided to combine their talent to create a new style of dance music. With the help of vocalist Penny Ford and rapper Turbo B., they released their debut single “The Power” in 1990. The song became an instant hit and was quickly followed by the release of their debut album, World Power.
Breakthrough Success
Snap! achieved breakthrough success with their second album, The Madman's Return. The album spawned several hit singles including “Rhythm Is a Dancer”, “Ooops Up”, and “Mary Had a Little Boy”. These songs were all certified gold or platinum by the RIAA and helped propel Snap! to international fame.
Later Career
Snap! continued to release music throughout the '90s and early 2000s, but never achieved the same level of success as their first two albums. They collaborated with several other artists including Nancy Sinatra, Todd Terry, and Summer on various tracks. The group disbanded in 2003 but reunited in 2018 for a one-off performance at a music festival in Germany.
Legacy
Snap! is credited as one of the pioneers of Eurodance music and helped shape the sound of dance music in the '90s. Their classic hits are still played in clubs around the world and they continue to influence modern producers today.
