Splean is a Russian alternative rock band formed in Moscow in 1993. The members of the band are Alexander Pankin, Sergey Kupriyanov, Ivan Sokolovsky and Konstantin Ivanov. Their music has been described as dreamy and melancholic, often featuring poetic lyrics. The band has released five albums since their formation and their songs have been featured in numerous films and television shows.
Splean was formed by Alexander Pankin and Sergey Kupriyanov in 1993 after they met at an underground music club in Moscow. Later on, Ivan Sokolovsky and Konstantin Ivanov joined the band. The band released their first album “Okean” in 1995. The album was well received by fans and critics alike and established Splean as a major act in the Russian alternative rock scene. In 1998, the band released their second album “Luna-Park” which was even more successful than their first. The album featured the hit song “Kak Ne Dumat O Tebe” which was featured on the soundtrack for the movie “Vsegda Gotov”. The band then went on to release two more albums, “Aerostat” in 2003 and “The Best of Splean” in 2005.
Splean's music style is rooted in classic Russian poetry and literature. Their sound is often described as melancholic, dreamy and romantic. Their songs feature poetic lyrics which are often inspired by classic Russian poets such as Alexander Pushkin and Vladimir Mayakovsky. Splean's songs often feature lush string arrangements and layered vocal harmonies.
