Story Of The Year

Story of the Year is an American rock band from St. Louis, Missouri. Formed in 1995, the band consists of lead vocalist Dan Marsala, lead guitarist Ryan Phillips, rhythm guitarist Philip Sneed, bassist Adam Russell and drummer Josh Wills. They have released six studio albums: Page Avenue (2003), In the Wake of Determination (2005), The Black Swan (2008), The Constant (2010), Wolves (2017) and the recently released album — Nightingale (2020).

Early Years and Career Beginnings

Story Of The Year began as a cover band in 1995 and took their name from the local St. Louis newspaper's yearly “Story of the Year” feature. They recorded their first album, titled Reality Check, in 2000 but it was never released. After signing with Maverick Records in 2003, they re-recorded several songs from Reality Check for their major label debut Page Avenue. The album was released in September 2003 and went on to sell over 500000 copies worldwide, thanks to heavy radio play on several singles such as “Until the Day I Die” and “Anthem of Our Dying Day”.

Recent Years

In 2008, they released their third album The Black Swan. It was co-produced by John Feldmann and featured a heavier sound than their previous albums. In 2010 they released their fourth album, The Constant. It was the first album to feature new drummer Josh Wills and had a more experimental sound than their earlier albums. In 2017 they released their fifth album Wolves which was more of a return to their roots with a harder sound. They most recently released their sixth album Nightingale in 2020 which marks a continuation of their lyrical themes of hope and inspiration.
