The Cult is an English rock band formed in 1983 by vocalist Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy. After the disbandment of their previous group Southern Death Cult, they formed The Cult and released their debut studio album Dreamtime (1984).

The Cult has released ten studio albums over the course of their career. Some of their most popular albums are Love (1985), Electric (1987), Sonic Temple (1989), Ceremony (1991), and Born into This (2007).
