The Used – an Introduction

The Used is an American post-hardcore band from Orem, Utah. Formed in 2001, the band consists of founding members Bert McCracken (vocals), Quinn Allman (guitar) and Jeph Howard (bass), as well as new drummer Dan Whitesides (drums). The Used have released six studio albums since their formation, with their most recent being 'Heartwork' in 2020.

The Band Members

Bert McCracken has been the frontman of The Used since their formation in 2001. After the release of their debut album 'The Used', the band went on to tour extensively with bands such as My Chemical Romance, Blink-182 and 30 Seconds to Mars. Quinn Allman began playing guitar in 2002 and has since become a core member of The Used, writing and producing music for the band. Jeph Howard joined The Used in 2004 and has since become a permanent member of the band. Dan Whitesides joined The Used in 2006 and has been a driving force behind their more recent releases.

Discography

The Used's discography consists of six studio albums: 'The Used' (2002), 'In Love and Death' (2004), 'Lies for the Liars' (2007), 'Artwork' (2009), 'Vulnerable' (2012) and 'Heartwork' (2020). The band has also released four live albums, three EPs and numerous singles. In addition to this, they have also contributed songs to soundtracks such as 'The Scorpion King' and 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'.

Legacy

The Used have achieved considerable success throughout their career. Their debut album 'The Used' was certified Gold in the US and their follow up album 'In Love and Death' was certified Platinum. Over the years, they have become one of the most successful post-hardcore bands of all time with a dedicated fan base around the world. They have also won numerous awards including two Kerrang! Awards for Best International Band and Best Live Band.
